Canada Day Jokes & Books

I was trying to decide what to write for my blog today, since I’ve already posted my Birthdays Promo, which includes the books that I have on sale for Canada Day. So I checked out my list of national observances and realized that today is also International Joke Day. (I hope that isn’t saying something about what the world thinks of Canada!)

The year ahead

With the advent of a new year, you maybe wondering what you can expect to see from my pen this year. Or maybe you’re not, but I thought it was a good topic for the beginning of the year.

Since my cozy mysteries have been doing well, that is much of my focus for this year.

Excerpt from Every Breath You Take

I am currently working on Every Breath You Take by Mary Higgins Clark, the Queen of Suspense. This is book 5 in the Under Suspicion series. I have read at least two others in this series, and am enjoying the building of the case. Laurie Moran and her family and associates are familiar and fun to read, but I wish she would get back together with Alex…

Excerpt from Dangerous Minds

Right now, I am reading Dangerous Minds by Janet Evanovich. It is the second book in the Knight and Moon series, and I have actually read the first one as well. I love the characters in this book. Evanovich writes lots of fun, quirky characters, and does not disappoint in this series. There is a monk who has lost his island, and the billionaire’s cousin, a hanger-on who is eccentric in his own rite. Put it together with an international threat, a secret society, and of course the missing (stolen) island, and you’ve got an Evanovich classic.

Kids are out of school, people are taking vacation, and here in Calgary, the Stampede is about to begin (which of course means that there should be plenty of thunderstorms over the next week!) I don’t have any kids in school, we’re not planning any trips until September, and well, we don’t do Stampede or anything else with so many people in one place.

Excerpt from The Camel Club

I have just started reading The Camel Club by David Baldacci. I have read one or two other books in the Camel Club series. There are some good characters; I am particularly enjoying the OCD member of the club, Milton Farb. But I am partial to characters with neurodiversities. Baldacci is always good for suspense and well-structured plots and clues. Lots of action and thrills.
