Halloween Comes to Auntie Clem’s Bakery — and the Éclairs are Biting Back!
A passage from the upcoming Chocolate Eclairvoyant, book #26 in the Auntie Clem’s Bakery Cozy Mystery series, inspired a fun Halloween activity:
“But what if everyone else wants you to? What if no one wants to work with me? Or the customers say they won’t shop at the bakery anymore until you do?”
“I’m still not going to give in. People will come around. They can’t stay away from our baking for that long.” She gave him a teasing smile.
Harold wiped at his cheeks and didn’t look at her. “Yeah,” he agreed, voice cracking a little, “those eclairs aren’t going to eat themselves.”
Erin laughed. “That’s right. Hey, you just gave me an idea for Halloween. What if we make the eclairs look like monsters with mouths? The white filling is the teeth, or we could do a strawberry filling for a red mouth. And then put little eyes made of rolled fondant on top and display them sideways…”
“Fondant teeth and tongues,” Harold suggested with a grin, immediately catching on to the idea.

Make Your Own Monster Eclairs
Unfortunately, I do not have a personally-tested gluten-free eclair recipe for you, and I can’t email you any yummy monster eclairs. But here are a couple you can try out, or you can head over to your nearest bakery to pick up some pre-made eclairs and some fondant or cake decorating supplies to make them into Halloween monsters.

I thought it would be a lot of fun to run a virtual monster eclair activity.
