Excerpt from The Weed that Strings the Hangman’s Bag

I have been reading a couple more of the Flavia de Luce books by Alan Bradley. Right now, I am reading The Weed that Strings the Hangman’s Bag. Since I’ve ended up reading the few that I have in reverse chronological order, it’s been very interesting to see how much some of the characters have changed since the beginning! Flavia’s family and the villagers have really softened in the later books.

Excerpt from Blue Labyrinth

My new book today is Blue Labyrinth, a Pendergast mystery by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child. I haven’t read any other books in this series, but it has some great, eclectic characters and I have been enjoying it. If you like Sherlock Holmes and Ellery Queen, I think you’ll like this one.

Excerpt from Bone Box

I am currently reading a book in the Decker/Lazarus Novels series by Faye Kellerman. Bone Box is book 25 in the series, just release in March this year. I am about a quarter of the way through, and so far am enjoying the twists and turns of the cold case investigation.

Excerpt from The Dead in their Vaulted Arches

Alan Bradley’s Flavia de Luce series is new to me, and I’m glad I picked this one up. The Dead in their Vaulted Arches is apparently #6 in the series, though Amazon doesn’t tell you the volume number, so you have to go to another site to find out! I am enjoying reading about this precocious little poisoner—er, amateur detective—and her family, friends, and enemies. Flavia is in the sad circumstance of trying to solve her long-lost mother’s murder, but she seems to be up to the task.
