Meet the Unwise Bee
The Unwise Bee includes my children’s adaptation of a parable by James E. Talmage, originally published in The Improvement Era, as well as the original text.
In the story, a bee finds himself trapped inside a room. He can see the sunshine and flowers waiting outside, but he cannot understand why the obvious way forward is not working.
Help is offered, but the frightened bee resists it. He is certain that he knows best.
It is a simple story, but its lesson is one that children and adults can both understand. We do not always recognize help when it comes. What feels frightening, uncomfortable, or unfair in the moment may be guiding us toward safety.
