Excerpt from The Pharaoh’s Secret

Don’t forget, Ronnie is on sale for just a couple more days!

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme. Read the rules and more teasers at The Purple Booker. Anyone can play along.

I seem to be on a thrillers kick lately. At the moment, I am reading Clive Cussler’s The Pharaoh’s Secret, from the NUMA Files. If you enjoy Egyptian mythology, Napoleonic history, and things blowing up, you’ll definitely enjoy this one.

“Great Lord of the Dead, we come to you in suffering,” he whispered. “Our families have fallen to the affliction. Our houses have been cursed, our lands have turned to worthless chaff. We ask that you take our dead and bless them in the afterlife.”

Clive Cussler, The Pharaoh’s Secret (NUMA Files)

Head of NUMA special assignments, Kurt Austin and his most trusted friend, Joe Zavala tangle with a ruthless powerbroker scheming to build a new Egyptian empire as glorious as those of the Pharaohs. Part of their adversary’s plan rests on the manipulation of a newly discovered aquifer beneath the Sahara, but an even more devastating weapon at his disposal may threaten the entire world: a plant extract known as the black mist, discovered in the City of the Dead and rumored to have the power to take life from the living and restore it to the dead.

With the balance of power in Africa and Europe on the verge of tipping, Kurt, Joe, and the rest of the NUMA team will have to fight to discover the truth behind the legends—but to do that, they have to confront in person the greatest legend of them all: Osiris, the ruler of the Egyptian underworld.

Comments

  1. My son-in-law is a huge fan. Don’t think I’ve read any of his books.

  2. My husband has almost all of Cussler’s books, and I’ve read quite a few of them, too. This sounds like another good NUMA thriller.
    My Tuesday post features Faultlines.

  3. That sounds dire!

  4. Kathy Martin says:

I’ve never read anything by Cussler. This sounds like quite a thriller. This week I have Look for Me by Lisa Gardner – a thriller from my review stack. Happy reading!

Tell me what you think!

He Was Walking Alone

(Book #4) Richard Harding was walking alone when he was struck by a vehicle and died. A tragic accident that was no one’s fault.

But if that was so, then why was his girlfriend so sure that it was intentional homicide? Zachary Goldman is on the case. With Christmas approaching, he is as determined to distract himself from his own troubles as he is to ferret out the truth of Harding’s death.
