I am currently reading Dan Brown’s Origin, Book #5 in the Robert Langdon series (which started with the daVinci Code). As with most Dan Brown, there are plenty of descriptions of art work, architecture, and symbols, with lots of interplay between religion and science. Intrigue, adventure, and plenty of twists and turns.

Believe it or not, I have actually never read Strangers on a Train before. I believe I saw the Hitchcock movie, some time ago. Or if not, I have seen enough clips about it to recall it as I am reading the book. I knew the premise of this classic mystery, but it has been interesting, it’s actually quite different than I thought it would be. Rather than being a pure mystery, where there is a detective or some other sleuth trying to solve a murder, it is more of a psychological thriller where you know who the murder is, but are waiting to see how they are going to get caught.

I have just finished reading Force of Nature by Jane Harper. A great thriller about five women who go into the Australian bush and the four who come out. Of course, none of the four knows what happened to Alice. As the story unfolds day by day, we hear each of the women’s stories and try to unravel the threads of truth. Well done, keeps you guessing until the end.

While the May Mommy group seems on the surface like a very supportive group of friends, there are a lot of secrets and undercurrents, resulting in some interesting twists and turns in the plot. I’ll read pretty much anything by Orson Scott Card, whether it is in the genres I would normally read or not. I have read the first two books in the Mither Mages series, and although there are many negative reviews for the third book, I am enjoying Gatefather so far. It is similar to C.S. Lewis in some ways in its discussion of the nature of God, the universe, and the role of free choice.
