Time for a Father’s Day blog post! It can be hard sometime to find representations of good fathers in literature. We have absent fathers, abusive fathers, and fathers who just drift in and out of the background. I confess that many of my characters have fathers who fall into these categories. They tend to come from traumatic backgrounds and/or families with secrets. But there are a few important exceptions.

Excerpt from The Screwtape Letters

I am currently reading a C.S. Lewis classic, The Screwtape Letters. C.S. Lewis, the author of the children’s fantasy series The Narnia Chronicles, also wrote a number of letters on Christianity such as The Great Divorce, Mere Christianity, and, of course, The Screwtape Letters. He also wrote a space trilogy, of which I have read only the second book, Perelandra. C.S. Lewis does a lot of writing in allegories, which can be real brain teasers.
