Mental Health Awareness Month

If you have been following my blog for long, you probably know that I am an advocate for supporting those with mental health issues in all aspects of their lives. As far as we have come in our understanding of mental illness, it is still stigmatized and our loved ones with mental health issues are still marginalized. You don’t have to look far to find evidence of injustices being done to these important members of our community. Statistically, you are more likely to suffer a mental illness during your lifetime than to require corrective lenses.

Reading for Celiac Disease Awareness

May is Celiac Disease Awareness month. You may have heard of Celiac Disease and not know what it means. It has also been called Celiac Sprue and a couple of other names. While those with Celiac Disease react to the glutens (proteins) in grains, it is not an allergy like a peanut allergy.
One of the things that I have had people ask me is which is worse, allergies or intolerance (Celiac Disease is an intolerance to glutens.) But it is very individual. Either one can be mild or severe. And with an intolerance like Celiac Disease, you may not realize that you have it, may not have any recognizable symptoms, but it can still cause damage that can result in serious illness such as colon cancer or the inability to absorb nutrients.

I have a number of stories and little books that I wrote while I was still in elementary school, and I wrote my first novel-length book when I was twelve.

Springing into Easter Reads

As well as the warmer weather and longer days, spring brings with it green grass, flowers (eventually…), baby animals, and Easter. So, how about some Easter and spring themed books?
Although I have built up my repertoire of Christmas/winter themed books, I don’t have much out yet that takes place around Easter. But I do have one on preorder with an Easter/Ostara/Equinox theme. Magic Ain’t a Game is book #11 in the Reg Rawlins, Psychic Investigator series but can be read as a stand alone mystery.
