In the Tick of Time
Do things with lots of legs creep you out? This may not be the book for you…
Matt Malloy, infectious diseases expert, for the DOH vector-borne disease division knew there was something wrong with the Buffalo Head infection cluster as soon as it hit his desk.
But knowing it instinctively and proving it were two completely different things, especially when his boss and coworkers already thought that, battling sleep deprivation, he’d already gone around the bend.
Matt knew that solving the mysteries of the Buffalo Head cluster was a matter of life and death.
He just didn’t know that it could be a matter of his life and death.
It could happen to you. Maybe it already has.
Feast on this new mystery today.
A nail-biting, creepy-crawly, medical-thriller that fans of Robin Cook will devour.
Read it today.
“I thoroughly enjoyed this page turner and look forward to more.”
“I thought to myself, ‘This place is probably crawling with ticks.’ I may be marked for life.”
“After I was done walking in the woods… it felt like something was crawling on me still. I love [P.D. Workman’s] work and [she does] an amazing job.”

Almost thirty years ago, I was sick. I was in pain and throwing up several days in a row every couple of weeks. I was missing a lot of work. It took me a while to figure out that this was happening whenever I ate red meat. That was the first step in my journey to veganism.
I didn’t start hearing about mammalian meat allergy being caused by tick bites for another ten years or more. I have never, to my knowledge, been bitten by a tick, much less a Lone Star tick. But scientists suspect it may also be spread by other bites, possibly mosquitoes. I have definitely been bitten by mosquitoes.
There were jokes about alpha-gal syndrome being engineered by vegetarians to force others to become vegetarian. Ideas began to simmer in my writing brain about possible plotlines…

“Every single one of [P.D. Workman’s] books has spoken to me … And I have found strength in the books I’ve read.”
“This is one author I certainly will be looking out for, I can’t recommend her enough.”
“I’ll read anything by P. D. Workman that I can get my hands on.”
“Every book by PD Workman that I’ve read has been a gripping one, however different the genres are, going from lighter mysteries to really dark ones… this is one of my favourite, most dependable authors.”
“P.D. Workman is an incredibly versatile writer. No matter which of her books I read I am drawn into a great story and honestly, I don’t think I’ve followed another author that could go from cozy mystery to YA to a PI series dealing with mental health issues. Really enjoy her books!”
“[P.D. Workman’s] stories are so believable and you can’t help but feel like you know these people. You find yourself crying, laughing and feeling the characters emotions. Now if an author can make you cry and feel every emotion in a story, she is one hell of an author.”
“P. D. Workman, does not shy from probing the deep psychological scars of childhood trauma, mental illness, and addiction. Also characteristic of this author, these extremely sensitive issues are explored with extensive empathy, described with incredible clarity, and portrayed with profound insight.”
“Once again P.D.Workman has created an intense psychological mystery that impacts a wallop of thought induction. The writing is so well developed and draws you into the characters story.”
