If you have been reading Zachary Goldman Mysteries and the intertwining series Kenzie Kirsch Medical Thrillers, you might recognize Elysse Allen and her boyfriend Dain from Death of a Corpse. I was intrigued with Elysse’s obviously fabricated story in Death of a Corpse and, like Kenzie’s mother, wondered what had really happened to her when she disappeared.

So in She Once Vanished, Dain hires Zachary to find out just that!

The idea for the fight between Elysse and Dain and her subsequent disappearance came from a real life event, and there are probably many similar events that have taken place over the years. Dain was, of course, the obvious suspect in Elysse’s disappearance, and the fact that she reappeared five days later and claimed that nothing had happened between them did nothing to convince her fans that he was not.
