Reviews for Shattered to Death
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I always look forward to another story in this series because the author consistently delivers timely, relevant stories peopled with believable characters that are convincingly human, complete with positive attributes as well as fears, foibles and flaws. Add in the riveting details of an assistant medical examiner’s work with the bodies of victims who succumbed to all manner of abuse, misfortune and violence, and you will invariably be in for a thrilling ride … my highest recommendation that you grab a copy of this book and settle in for a gripping story that just might have you looking over your shoulder the next time you go out.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ It’s down to Kenzie and Zachary to investigate, with the help of Detective Garcia and what they unearth will shock and surprise you for sure, all the way through this unputdownable thriller.

There is a long history of using psychiatric patients for human experimentation. The practices that were common in the past are less so now. Many are not considered horrific and unethical.
But that doesn’t mean that experimentation (both legal and illegal) has been done away with, and there are problems with protocols not being followed, unethical experimenteres, and harm being done to patients.
Many jurisdictions have statutes in place with regard to the reporting of deaths of psychiatric patients or those recently released from psychiatric care (a group at high risk for suicide or supposedly accidental death). However, it is apparent that these statutes are often overlooked or ignored, and there are few stats available to classify and quantify the deaths of psychiatric patients.
Psychiatric patients are among the most vulnerable in our population and deserve our rigorous attention and protection.

“P.D. Workman is an incredibly versatile writer. No matter which of her books I read I am drawn into a great story and honestly, I don’t think I’ve followed another author that could go from cozy mystery to YA to a PI series dealing with mental health issues. Really enjoy her books!”
“[P.D. Workman’s] stories are so believable and you can’t help but feel like you know these people. You find yourself crying, laughing and feeling the characters emotions. Now if an author can make you cry and feel every emotion in a story, she is one hell of an author.”
“P. D. Workman, does not shy from probing the deep psychological scars of childhood trauma, mental illness, and addiction. Also characteristic of this author, these extremely sensitive issues are explored with extensive empathy, described with incredible clarity, and portrayed with profound insight.”
