⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ P.D. Workman has penned another incredibly intense and absolutely heartbreaking story about a teen caught up in the very system developed to protect children from those who would do them harm. —Kim, Goodreads Reviewer
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ One of P D Workman’s great strengths is her ability to create believable, likeable and often unusual characters – you feel you really get to know the protagonists in her novels. —John C, Goodreads Reviewer
Don’t miss this gripping tale filled with twists that keep you guessing until the end! Perfect for fans of suspenseful stories featuring diverse characters who dare to challenge an unjust system!
Follow Gabriel and Renata as they fight against an unfair and corrupt system, trying to save themselves and others from doctors, social workers, and judges who are more interested in profit than justice and the safety of their charges.
—A phenomenal read! The story line is both exasperating and inspiring. Is it a conspiracy or crazy thoughts? You have to read to the end to know for sure.
—I thoroughly enjoyed Mito. I didn’t want to put any it down.
—The incipient relationship between Gabriel and Renata, both in awful situations, was fascinating and I was intrigued by the very original theme of the book. I hope it really is a work of fiction!
—The plot was FANTASTIC. I’ve read a lot of stories about foster children, but never anything quite like what happens in Mito. I never even realized that medical kidnap could very well be a thing happening “behind the scenes” in foster care, but after reading this book my mind is blown.
Author Notes may contain spoilers!
Is medical kidnap still a thing? Or has it disappeared with all of the advances in medical technology and diagnostic procedures?
Unfortunately, children and teens are still being taken away from their parents because of misdiagnosis, parents who disagree with doctors, the increased awareness of Munchhausen by proxy/factitious disorders, overzealous case workers, and clinical trials in need of patients.
Diagnosing diseases and disorders can be a very long and complicated process with lots of twists and turns along the way, just like this story.
