Trick or Treat! Get your Halloween Reads

I have no idea what Halloween is going to bring this year. Everyone is already wearing masks and has spent most of the year scared of something. Whether your tastes are for sweet or scary reads, you should find something in this list that suits your tastes.

Witch-Free Halloween

In a town as full of secrets as Bald Eagle Falls, what’s one more?
Erin Price, gluten-free baker turned sleuth and her assistant and best friend, Vic are looking forward to their first Halloween in Bald Eagle Falls. But circumstances combine against them, and they face a problem that could mean the end to Auntie Clem’s Bakery.
This Halloween short, part of the Auntie Clem’s Bakery series, is only available through my website. If you are following the series, be sure to pick it up!

Muffins Masks Murder

On sale now for just $0.99.

Back in Bald Eagle Falls, Erin needs a vacation from her vacation. But she doesn’t get much of a chance to relax and get back to normal before the unthinkable happens.

This time, she is not the suspect in a murder investigation, her sweetheart Officer Terry Piper is. Could he have been pushed too far by drug runner Bo Biggles? Did he cross the line? Or is it someone else in the community, someone who might be close to Erin?

Jail is not a safe place for a cop, and Erin is desperate to figure out the guilty party before Terry is taken into custody.

In the Tick of Time

Things creep and crawl in the woods. Things that can wreak havoc with your life.

Things that can be deadly.

As an infectious disease expert for the DOH’s vector-borne disease division, Matt Malloy knows this. What he doesn’t know is who, or why, someone would want to deliberately infect innocent people. Adding insult to injury, his co-workers think he’s either paranoid or losing his mind because of erratic behavior and disordered sleep habits.

Behavior he can’t help. A traumatic head wound can have that effect on a man. He was clocked hard while interviewing a patient with Lyme disease weeks ago, and he’s still suffering from it.

But he’s definitely not crazy.
Or paranoid.

Someone is deliberately infecting people. Maybe even someone he knows. Very soon, that someone will know Matt’s on to him.
Can he prove his suspicions before he’s targeted, too?

A nail-biting, creepy-crawly, medical-thriller that fans of Robin Cook will devour because it could happen to you. Maybe it already has.

Night of Nine Tails

Reg recognizes that feeling of dread.

Something is disrupting the spiritual atmosphere in Black Sands, but no one else seems to be aware of its menacing presence. So Reg does her best to push it to the back of her conscious mind and to focus on new friendships and opportunities. She has been in Florida for long enough that it’s time to have some fun.

But ignoring the presence doesn’t make it go away, and before long, Reg has been dragged into a manhunt—or a creature hunt—that is scarier than anything she has faced in the paranormal community yet.

With the help of some long-buried memories and unexpected helpers, Reg is able to find a few answers… and a lot more questions.

Web of Nightmares

Psychic Reg Rawlins is hoping to get her life back to normal, or some semblance of it. With the gems she was given by the fairies for saving Calliopia’s life, she doesn’t need to worry about money. Maybe never again. She can just relax, get the sleep she needs, and not have to worry about hustling a living.
Life is better with money. Maybe she’ll even take up a hobby. Travel. Visit Erin.

But the rest of the world seems to have other ideas. Reg senses that all is not well in Black Sands. She is plagued by nightmares and visions, but her ability to consciously access her powers is limited and she is going to need them to save her friends.

Loose the Dogs

You’ll never look at your dog the same way again.

Seven dogs are adopted by families all across the country who do not know their history…

“Of one thing I am sure,” Glenn declares. “These dogs are perfectly harmless.”

Frank knew it wasn’t true.
He would never forget walking into that trailer. He saw it in his mind every time he closed his eyes. He woke up in the middle of the night drenched in sweat, seeing those eyes and those teeth, screaming soundlessly, gasping for breath.

“He never saw those dogs. How could anyone make such a stupid decision, knowing what they did?”

And More!

Here are a few more Halloween books. I hope to be adding a few more over the month!

The Halloween Haunting

It’s bingo night at the retirement center!

It sounds tame enough to Mallory, except that the residents of this particular community include a grandmotherly hacker, a retired witch, and, once upon a time, Mallory’s Great-Auntie Lula.

Visiting her dead relative’s former abode brings back memories for Mallory, but it also rather unexpectedly brings back Great-Auntie Lula.

With her ghostly great-aunt’s help, can Mallory and her crew discover who’s burgled Bradley’s condo, and why everyone involved with the break-in keeps dying?

The Legend of Sleepy Mayfair

A Halloween romp with a seriously scary twist!

Her adopted town is once again driving service dog trainer Marcia Banks a little nuts. No sooner has she moved her horse into the new Mayfair Riding Stable than its octogenarian, muumuu-wearing owner decides to turn the barn into a haunted house for Halloween. Meanwhile, an anonymous prankster is haunting Mayfair, disrupting its small-town tranquility, and the local postmistress has a strange request for Marcia. All this, along with her new role of godmother to adorable twins, is a bit overwhelming.

But it’s nothing compared to what’s coming. As Halloween approaches, the evil lurking in the shadows will threaten what is most precious to Marcia and her beloved town.

The Arrival of Sherlock Holmes

Halloween is approaching…and the game is afoot. Mysterious happenings are plaguing the Richardson family. A chilling painting of a dreadful place only rumoured to exist, missing jewels, and an unexpected, bloody attack put young Holmes and Watson on the case.

Recently settled in Toronto to attend university, Sherlock Holmes becomes acquainted with Janah Watson at Baker House, a Victorian-era home that has been converted into a student residence. A friendship seems unlikely—Holmes is too eccentric and Watson has no patience for eccentricity. But when the duo is invited by Mrs. Hudson (Baker House’s housekeeper) to investigate the odd things that are happening to the daughter of her former employer, Holmes and Watson must put aside their differences.

Aurelia Richardson was a decorated anthropologist before she had a mental breakdown during an expedition. After being institutionalized for six years, she returns home, distant and quiet, but in good health.

Quite suddenly, however, she becomes erratic and delirious, and claims to be haunted by the ghosts of her past. Is her health declining once again or is something more sinister at work?

The Stolen Twin

On the surface, Kit Caldwell has it all. A senior in college with her future ahead of her, lots of friends, lots of parties…not to mention also having the eye of Tommy, the star quarterback of the football team.

But underneath, Kit’s life is a charade, built on a foundation of secrets and lies, including one so dark it threatens to tear her world apart: her twin sister, Cat, was kidnapped when they were both seven, never to be heard from again.

That is, until one dark Halloween night.

Weeping Moon

Lella York has a way of getting herself into trouble, even when she’s doing volunteer work. Who is the mysterious storyteller, and what is going on at the senior living center? And will Lella find out before it’s too late?

Twisted

Come into a strange world, where everything is firmly rooted in the familiar—except for some quirky detail that twists the yarn and takes it for a spin in an unexpected direction. So prepare yourself: keep the lights on.

If you like to read Edgar Allan Poe, you’ll love this horror anthology, where a woman—or rather, her ghost—finds a way to outwit the devil.

The Adventure of the Scarlet Rosebud

A medium dies – but is it murder?

When Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson investigate the death of Marcia Le Fanu, a well-known medium, they enter an unfamiliar world of trickery and intrigue. Was Marcia Le Fanu cursed by a rival? Or does the truth lie closer to home?

To solve this case Sherlock Holmes will need all his deductive powers — and Dr Watson will be tested too…

October 31, 1985

October 31st, 1985 in a small town. A group of young children want nothing more than a classic night of trick-or-treating, unaware they will contend with the otherworldly monsters, spirits, and demons all around them. Blending chills, humor, and nostalgia, these tales will remind you what Halloween once was while revealing the horrors that continue to stalk you from the shadows…

Laying Ghosts

A strange message. A deserted beach house. A shocking incident from the past …

When a text message from a long lost friend lures Selkie Moon to Crystal Cottage, the chilling events from a house-party four years earlier wrap her in ghostly fingers and turn her life upside-down.

Shades of Grayson

When author Grayson Cleary crosses the Atlantic, he has his sights set on two prizes—one literary and one romantic.

Things are going well until a harmless favor for his girlfriend leads Grayson into a minor mystery that morphs into murder. And the evidence all points toward him—either as the killer or the next victim.

With the police, a murderer, and the ghost of a dead writer all pursuing him, Grayson has only his author friends and one exceptional seeing-eye poodle to help him sniff out the killer and clear his own name.

Pumpkins, Paws & Murder

Leta Parker is back with her talkative companions—Dickens the dog and Christie the cat.

Though Leta’s still haunted by her tragic loss, moving from Atlanta to the village of Astonbury has given her a new lease on life.

Leta’s days are filled with yoga, book club, walks with Dickens, naps with Christie, and outings with friends. Add preparations for the Astonbury Fall Fête—complete with scarecrows, pumpkins, and costumes—and she’s beyond busy.

All is well until a dead body is discovered on the riverbank, and once again, Leta and her sleuthing girlfriends are drawn into a search for a killer—a search that takes them to Dartmouth on the coast of England.

Halloween in Cherry Hills

Halloween has arrived in Cherry Hills, Washington—the worst time of the year for a black cat to disappear.

Coming home to discover a beloved fur baby has gone missing is every pet parent’s worst nightmare. But that’s exactly what happens to Cherry Hills High School teacher Tracy Montgomery. The question is, did Midnight escape, or was he catnapped?

With all evidence suggesting the friendly black cat didn’t sneak out on his own, Kat Harper and her fellow Furry Friends Foster Families animal rescue volunteers take it upon themselves to locate the elusive feline and reunite him with his frantic owner.

Unfortunately, their only leads turn out to be a scrap of paper and the neighborhood witch’s cryptic vision. But the lack of clues isn’t going to deter Kat. Halloween is fast approaching, and giving up now could very well mean letting an animal thief triumph.

Cutthroat Cupcakes

Killer cupcakes?

Seems improbable to Lina, but when an attractive detective snaps cuffs on her and accuses her of witchy crimes she’s forced to reconsider.

The murder weapon? A cupcake topper sold in Lina’s shop, Sticky, Tricky Treats.

The method? A killing curse.

The curse’s origin? Lina…sort of.
Except Lina hadn’t a clue that she was a witch, and certainly didn’t know she’d accidentally cursed some of her confections.

She’s got to catch the killer who used her magic to murder or possibly face a conviction as an accessory.

Now, if only the wizard detective assigned to the case weren’t such a distraction.

Free for October

Southern Spirits

When out of work graphic designer Verity Long accidentally traps a ghost on her property, she’s saddled with more than a supernatural sidekick—she gains the ability to see spirits. It leads to an offer she can’t refuse from the town’s bad boy, the brother of her ex and the last man she should ever partner with.

Ellis Wyatt is in possession of a stunning old property haunted by some of Sugarland Tennessee’s finest former citizens. Only some of them are growing restless—and destructive. He hires Verity to banish the troublemakers for good. But Verity discovers there’s more to the mysterious estate than floating specters, secret passageways, and hidden rooms.

Little Shop of Borrows

After spending a year perfecting his knitting skills in the Peruvian mountains, Taren Winn-Jones returns to England to transform his late Nanna’s house into a yarn shop. But when he discovers it has quite literally vanished, he doesn’t know what to do. Luckily for him, he has just befriended a strange young woman heading to the mysterious hamlet of Willow Tree Farm…

Sadie Thornton is following her father’s instructions. “If I disappear, you must find your way to the Winterbournes of Willow Tree Farm”. Well, her father has gone, so she’s had no choice but to leave the Tibetan monks behind and fly halfway across the world to start afresh with a family harbouring a badly kept secret—that they are, in fact, witches.

When it becomes apparent that a murder has been committed, a house has been stolen and ghosts are hanging around, three generations of the Winterbournes will do everything in their power to protect their new friends and if that means waging a war against Cinnamon Grove’s obnoxious Mayor, then so be it.

The Slanderous Siren and the Grievous Gift

There’s a murder in the Playhouse, a vengeful Siren on the loose and a nosy Librarian turned sleuth. Let the mayhem begin.

After finally agreeing to go on a date with Police Chief and bear shifter, Zach Braun, Alexandra Meyers, aka Xandie, assumed it would be plain sailing.

Not in Point Muse.

Now the Librarian to the supernatural Great Library of Alexandria and her family of Harrow witches have to deal with a new set of problems…

A vengeful Siren, a dead ex-girlfriend, a traveling Playhouse of drama-loving actors and an old nemesis, all with an ax to grind. With bodies dropping at every curtain call, all signs point to Zach Braun as the killer. Xandie has no choice but to swing into Sherlock Librarian mode.

Otherwise their first date might be their last…

Gingerbread and Scary Endings

Business is good but the stress of fulfilling a new corporate order is almost driving Meghan Truman insane. She is therefore excited when handsome detective, Jack Irvin, proposes to take her to the movies.

She never expected that a fun, carefree night at the Sandy Bay cinema would end with the tragic death of the movie theater manager.

Dittany and a Death

No one saw the fair arrive in Wormwood.

One moment there were empty fields, and the next there were tents and a sign out front which read: Sully’s Fright Fair – Opening Tonight!

With Halloween just two days away, the entire town is ready for some shocking horror shows… but the real shock is the murder which takes centre stage.

A body in a coffin.

A gang of suspicious suspects with perfect alibis.

A cat with leathery wings and a snarky attitude – who is no help at all when it comes to solving this case.

Hazel Salem and DCI Admiral have their work cut out to catch the killer and unravel the frightening truth about the fair, before it fades back into the Halloween mists forever.

    1. In order for books to be in Kindle Unlimited, they have to be listed exclusively on Kindle. That would mean that I would need to take them off of Kobo, Nook, Apple Books, Google Books, etc. It is important to me that they be available to readers on all platforms and that all of my eggs are not in one basket. I frequently have books on for $0.99 or free on Kindle.

Tell me what you think!
