Excerpt from The Inventor’s Secret

Check out the features in the sidebar! I’d love to get some donations to our local youth shelter, and you can find lots of good reads and deals.

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme. Read the rules at Books and a Beat. Anyone can play along.

I don’t think I’ve featured any steampunk here before. I don’t read very much of it, but it can certainly be a lot of fun. I am currently in the third book of The Inventor’s Secret series, but I’ll post a quote from the first book. While the girls on the front covers of these books appear to be in their twenties, the protagonist is actually sixteen. One warning about this series: it is really a serial, with the plot arc extending across all three books, rather than resolved in one. Both the first and second books end at plot climaxes. Make sure you have all thee handy before you start.

This is why I keep telling Ash to get you a cat or a bird. Guns aren’t proper pets.

When a new exile with no memory of his escape  or even his own name seeks shelter in their camp he brings new dangers with him and secrets about the terrible future that awaits all those who have struggled has to live free of the bonds of the empire’s Machineworks.
