I've read and mentioned a few other Louise Penny books on this blog before. Based in Quebec, the Inspector Gamache series always delves deep into the setting and history, psychology, and the complex relationships between the characters. Gamache has dealt with a lot of betrayal and corruption in his time, and in this volume, he is once again trying to root out the source of the ongoing problems in the Sûreté du Québec and how it is tied into the mysterious map and disappearing villages.
