Excerpt from A Dog’s Purpose and a Free Gift

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme. Read the rules at Books and a Beat. Anyone can play along!

In case you missed it, I recently released Loose the DogsClick to read a couple of chapters for free.

If you’re looking for a dog book with heart, I have just started A Dog’s Purpose by W. Bruce Cameron, a touching and hilarious dogs-eye view of life and a dog’s search for purpose in life. It had me laughing out loud more than once with unexpected insights into doggie world. Particularly when the dog meets a skunk for the first time (sprayed, of course) and promptly goes looking for it again the next day (sprayed again). Here is my teaser:

The other one I mentally called Hungry, because he whimpered whenever Mother was gone and would suckle her with an odd desperation, as if it were never enough. Hungry slept more than my siblings and I did, so we often jumped on him and chewed on his face.

Addendum: I really enjoyed reading A Dog’s Purpose and am looking forward to maybe seeing the 2017 movie! It is a heart-warming story that dog-lovers everywhere will enjoy.

This is the remarkable story of one endearing dog’s search for his purpose over the course of several lives. More than just another charming dog story, A Dog’s Purpose touches on the universal quest for an answer to life’s most basic question: Why are we here?

Surprised to find himself reborn as a rambunctious golden-haired puppy after a tragically short life as a stray mutt, Bailey’s search for his new life’s meaning leads him into the loving arms of 8-year-old Ethan. During their countless adventures Bailey joyously discovers how to be a good dog.

But this life as a beloved family pet is not the end of Bailey’s journey. Reborn as a puppy yet again, Bailey wonders—will he ever find his purpose?

Heartwarming, insightful, and often laugh-out-loud funny, A Dog’s Purpose is not only the emotional and hilarious story of a dog’s many lives, but also a dog’s-eye commentary on human relationships and the unbreakable bonds between man and man’s best friend. This moving and beautifully crafted story teaches us that love never dies, that our true friends are always with us, and that every creature on earth is born with a purpose.
